QLD:Govt to release carbon tax modelling

BRISBANE, Aug 23 AAP - The Queensland government is set to release long-awaited modelling
on the effects of the federal government's carbon tax on the state's economy.

Treasurer Andrew Fraser said the information due to be released on Tuesday would allow
the tax debate to be based on facts.

"What it shows is the economy will continue to grow strongly, key sectors will continue
to grow," he told ABC Radio on Tuesday.

The effect of the tax on the state's power generators is still the subject of negotiations
with the commonwealth, Mr Fraser said.

The state opposition has been calling for the modelling for weeks, arguing it should
have been released earlier to give Queenslanders a better understanding of the economic
issues.
