Vic: What the main editorials in Melbourne said today

MELBOURNE, Dec 25 AAP - The message of Christmas is the focus of the Christmas Day
editorial in the Herald Sun.

As most Australians celebrate Christmas, we are also facing a difficult and different
future and the country is no longer the place we once knew, it says.

The economic impetus that brought prosperity has slowed and people are overwhelmed
by questions such as "how much have I got?" and "how much have I left?"

But, the newspaper argues, perhaps it is time to return to older values, and just as
the world's financial markets are undergoing severe correction, "So it is that in a changing
world an old sense of common purpose and community can give us new hope," the paper says.

Christmas is our chance to change things for the better, the editorial says, adding:
"Christmas is essentially a time of reflection and personal renewal."
