WA: Prisoner breaks out from jail and steals car
PERTH, Feb 16 AAP - A prisoner who escaped from Bandyup Women's Prison yesterday afternoonhas remained on the run today.
A police spokesman said it was believed that the woman stole a white Toyota Landcruiserfrom the nearby Perth suburban area of Lockridge after her escape.
"Late last evening, she was believed to have stolen a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser utilityand the vehicle is still outstanding," the spokesman said.
The 30-year-old woman escaped from the maximum security prison at about 3pm (WST) yesterdaywith the help of two male accomplices.
One of the men used a Mitsubishi Magna car to ram a temporary gate at the side of thejail to free the woman and the pair then ran and jumped over another fence to the otherman who was driving a getaway car.
Police later apprehended one of the men but are still searching for the woman and hermale accomplice.
The police spokesman said both were considered dangerous.
The Justice Department said it was investigating the escape and reviewing security at the prison.
